India-UAE relations

1.  Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of the UAE is going to be the chief guest of the upcoming republic day. UAE is the one of the strong ally of the India in gulf region. Both countries are engaged with each other in strategic partnership, which encompasses many areas such as defence, security, investment ,cyberspace and cybercrime cooperation, space research, collaboration on renewable energy and many other areas. 

2. Strategic partnership got the boost-up when UAE decided to setup $75 billion infrastructure fund, which comes from the massive $800 billion sovereign wealth fund, for the promotion of the infrastructure in India.

3. To elevate the strategic partnership, recently, UAE decided to seize all properties and activities Dawood Ibrahim in UAE and restrict the travelling of the Dawood Ibrahim.

4. On the upcoming republic day, Soldiers of the UAE are going to march on rajpath along with India Soldiers. The most interesting irony is soldiers of the UAE are trained by pakistani army. 

5. Recently, A void between the UAE and Pakistan has emerged on factors of counter-terrorism operations and Pakistan’s open reluctance to act against the terrorism.

6. During the low ebb of the Indo-Pakistan relations, it would be strategic blow to Pakistan, whose former ISI chief has served as the advisor to the UAE defence forces. 

7.  India is trying to strengthening  its diplomatic muscle during the times of low UAE-Pakistan relations.  

8. Strengthening of the ties with UAE is most important for India in this temporary pause time. This deeper engagement is necessary for the India to pressure the Pakistan diplomatically via gulf countries, which  have deep friendly relationship with Pakistan. 

Diaspora:-

9. UAE- India are natural partners in some areas due to its historical, cultural, strategic, trade, diasporic and other relations. Both countries are islands of the safe zones in the midst of the conflict areas. Thats why it is easy and natural for the both countries to forge their strategic relations. 

10.  UAE is one of the country that has huge Indian diaspora. Roughly, total population of Indian diaspora is 2.6 million, which is huge and influencing strength out of the 9.364 million UAE population. This diaspora is strategic advantage for the India. 

11. India is receiving the major chunk of the forex from the gulf countries but there is major criticism that India is not doing anything for the welfare of the people living in that region. By deepening the relations, India can engage more with gulf countries for increasing the living conditions of the people,who are migrating in search of the employment.

Energy and Trade:-

12. UAE is one of the major trading partner of India. UAE is important country for the India due to its dependence on the former one for the energy security.
